My name is Vinicius, but most people call me Vini!
I have a PhD in Business Management, specialising in Human-AI interaction. My research explores how people experience and respond to AI decision-making, especially in recruitment and personnel selection. I am particularly interested in how technology shapes perceptions of fairness, trust, and transparency.
My background combines research, business operations, finance, technology, logistics, education, and entrepreneurship. I enjoy working with data, developing evidence-based insights, and communicating complex ideas in a clear and accessible way. I have experience with quantitative and qualitative methods, using tools such as IBM SPSS, R, Python, NVivo, ATLAS.ti, Excel, Tableau, SurveyMonkey, and Qualtrics, but I am always keen to learn new tools and approaches.
I am fluent in English and Brazilian Portuguese, with intermediate Italian and Spanish, and beginner Lithuanian. Outside work, I enjoy travelling, discovering new cultures and cuisines, hiking, playing five-a-side football, kayaking, and go-kart racing.
About me
My academic journey began in Halifax, Canada, where I completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management at Mount Saint Vincent University, graduating with Distinction. During this period, I became actively involved in student life and served as President of the International Student Society, experiences that strengthened my interest in leadership, collaboration, and cross-cultural communication.
I then moved to Belgium to complete an MSc in Global Management at Antwerp Management School, before continuing my academic path at the University of Liverpool, where I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Management Research and later pursued a PhD in Business Management, focusing on Human-AI interaction in personnel selection. During my time in Liverpool, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Fellow and presented my research at academic conferences.
Before and alongside academia, I gained professional experience across business operations, technology, logistics, finance, customer service, online retail, and AI data annotation. From managing regulated lottery concessionaires in São Paulo to supporting taxpayers in the UK, these roles gave me a practical understanding of how organisations work, how people make decisions, and how data can support better outcomes.
Across these different experiences, a common thread has been my interest in people, technology, evidence, and decision-making. I am particularly drawn to opportunities where research and practical insight can be used to understand complex problems, improve processes, and support more thoughtful organisational decisions.
